Footwear Material Sourcing Checklist
Prepare a clear footwear material inquiry: sample photos, backing, thickness, color, quantity, testing needs and destination before requesting a quote.
A useful inquiry starts with your reference
To request footwear roll materials, send the intended shoe component, a clear reference, target specification, quantity per color and destination. Add any required test method or customer standard. This gives the supplier a defined selection to investigate before discussing a quotation or sample.
You do not need to know every technical detail before contacting Youxiang Leather. A physical sample or clear photographs can be a starting point. State what is known, what is essential and what still needs to be decided.
Photograph the face, back and edge
A face photograph shows the surface pattern and finish. The back and cut edge help describe the construction that is not visible from the face alone. Use clear lighting and include the reference or color-card number when you have one.
If you are matching an existing shoe, identify the exact component in the image. We supply roll materials, so it is helpful to separate the material request from finished-shoe specifications or requests for unrelated components.
Photos are an initial reference. They cannot fully communicate hand feel, confirm fiber composition or establish exact color. We may need a physical sample before suggesting a close match.
Use this inquiry checklist
If a specification is unknown, include the reference sample and explain what needs to be matched. Distinguish an essential requirement from a preference that can change during selection.
Separate a stock check from a custom requirement
Youxiang Leather has in-stock options across microfiber PU, imitation microfiber-backed PU and stretch PU. Availability is confirmed against the selected code, color, thickness and quantity. If a requirement differs from an available article, we discuss whether an alternative or a custom supply arrangement is appropriate.

A color card or an earlier quotation should not be used as confirmation of current stock. Ask for a fresh check before placing the order.
Agree on the sample and testing steps
Confirm which sample will be sent and which reference it represents. International courier charges are agreed before dispatch. If you require several alternatives, label each candidate so your evaluation stays linked to the corresponding quote. Material samples and custom sampling from Youxiang are free. The buyer pays shipping.
For performance or restricted-substance requirements, provide the relevant method, target and reporting requirements. We confirm what information or documentation is available for the selected article and discuss any testing needed. Do not assume that another material’s report covers your selection.
Check the quotation before approving
- Does it identify the approved material and color reference?
- Are thickness, usable width, quantity and purchasing unit clear?
- Are MOQ, sample arrangements, packing and delivery terms agreed?
- Are any remaining construction, testing or documentation questions resolved?
- Has timing been confirmed for the actual selection and destination?
Lead time is confirmed after the material, color, quantity and sample requirements are agreed. Separate material preparation from international transit when planning your schedule.

Keep color approval and the quotation together
Record the approved physical color reference, exact swatch or color number, surface finish and sample revision beside the quote. A general color name or an unmarked card photograph can leave the supplier and shoe factory referring to different selections.
Use the physical color-matching guide to prepare the reference. Keep unresolved thickness, backing, availability and test requirements visible until confirmed; a color approval does not settle those separate conditions.
